East Tackles Cancer 2015
The Event
The 2015 East Tackles Cancer Event focused it's efforts to sponsor a young man, Mason Carello, who had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. One of Mason's favorite activities is to work with Legos and his wish was to attend Legoland in Orlando, Florida. As part of the East Tackles Cancer week, Mason was made an honorary captain for the game. He had the chance to visit the Patriots during the week leading up to the game, meet the team, work techniques, and participate in drills. As a result of the efforts of the event, the fundraising helped to not only pay for the cost of Mason's wish, but the funds raised helped to make 2 other wishes a reality. The Game
On the field, the Patriots took on the Evergreens of D.C. Everest. Coming into the game, East had been undefeated in East Tackles Cancer games (3-0), including a come from behind victory over D.C. Everest in the first East Tackles Cancer game in 2012, 27-24. However, it was not meant to be as D.C. Everest shut out the Patriots, 17-0. Dispite the result on the field, the East Tackles Cancer Event was a huge success. It was another showing of awareness and hope for everyone.
